Pastor Angela launched us into our new series, Silent Sermons, where we will discuss how the messages we preach to ourselves predict how we live our lives and the health of our futures. Angela discussed how jealousy and envy produce dominant narratives in our lives, and what we can do to combat their power.

Bekki Fahrer discusses how making ourselves open to God at work in our lives is core to a healthy faith life. God is Person who wants a relationship with us. Yet, we would often prefer a god we can manipulate and control. Our preference for control may be why Christians frequently have a reputation for focusing on rules; rules clearly show who is doing well and who isn’t. Yet, God invites us into the unpredictability of true relationship with him and with others. 

Habits of Grace: Hearing: Practices that Form the Mind of Christ in Us

Pastor Richard discusses how we can receive direction from God and align His agenda with our lives. Hearing God isn’t as mysterious as it might sound because God is always at work in our lives, and He has always communicated with His people. God will use whatever mechanism He wants to speak to us, but Scripture is the primary way that the Holy Spirit opens us up to God.

Pastor Jessica discusses how releasing control to God is imperative to a healthy faith life. It is through surrendering our own agendas, desires, and needs to God where we find freedom and the immense love of the God who wants to carry our burdens and lead us through this world.
